Egg Halwa receipe

Egg halwa is a unique and delicious Indian sweet dish made with eggs, sugar, and various flavorings. Here’s a simple recipe for making egg halwa:

Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/4 cup milk powder
  • 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut (optional, for added texture)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (such as almonds, cashews, or pistachios)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A few saffron strands (optional, for color and flavor)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:

    • Beat the eggs in a bowl until they are well mixed.
    • If using saffron, soak the saffron strands in 2 tablespoons of warm milk.
  2. Cook the Eggs:

    • Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of ghee.
    • Pour in the beaten eggs and cook, stirring constantly, until the eggs start to set. They should be soft and slightly scrambled.
  3. Add Milk and Sugar:

    • Add the remaining ghee to the pan and mix well.
    • Pour in the milk and stir in the sugar. Cook on low heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan. This will take about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Incorporate Milk Powder:

    • Gradually add the milk powder to the pan, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Continue to cook until the mixture becomes thick and creamy.
  5. Add Coconut and Flavorings:

    • If using, stir in the grated coconut and cook for another 5 minutes.
    • Add the cardamom powder and saffron-infused milk (if using), and mix well.
  6. Add Nuts:

    • Add the chopped nuts and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Final Touches:

    • Once the halwa reaches a pudding-like consistency and starts to leave the sides of the pan, remove from heat.
    • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Serving:

  • Serve warm or at room temperature. You can garnish with additional chopped nuts or a few strands of saffron if desired.

Enjoy your homemade egg halwa!
